Gervonta Davis involved in apparent physical altercation with the mother of his child as footage app

Gervonta Davis has defended himself after a video on social media appeared to show the two-weight world champion involved in a physical altercation with a woman.

The WBA 'regular' lightweight champion was caught on camera appearing to drag a woman (who has since been identified as ex-girlfriend Dretta) out of a Miami venue by her collar.

The 25-year-old, who boasts a 95.5% knockout ratio, could be seen picking her up before aggressively escorting her away from the charity basketball game ahead of the SuperBowl.

According to TMZ, witnesses saw the pair began to shout at one other before things turned physical.

Davis and Dretta share a son together and the southpaw slugger from Baltimore took to Instagram to defend himself.

“I never once hit her,” he wrote on his story. “Yea I was aggressive and told her to come on…that’s the mother of my child I would never hurt her other than that.

“Happy New Years…January was trassshhhhh [sic]”

Davis, who has been dubbed ‘Mini Mike Tyson’ for his tremendous power in the ring, moved up to lightweight having been a world champion at super-featherweight.

The 23-0 star is working closely under the tutelage of Floyd Mayweather and has talked up a potential fight with Vasyl Lomachenko at either 126lbs or 130lbs, where the Ukrainian holds the WBA 'super', WBC and WBO titles.

Davis has previously faced assault charges for reportedly punching a childhood friend in 2017, although these were dropped. Davis was also arrested a year later in Washington DC after getting involved in what police described as a ‘fist fight’ with another man.
