Dana Perino is an American political commentator, author, TV personality, and producer who served as the 26th White House Press Secretary under President George W. Bush from September 14, 2007, to January 20, 2009. With this, she became the second female White House Press Secretary after Dee Dee Myers who served during Bill Clinton‘s administration. Dana Perino studied at Ponderosa High School (commonly referred to as Pondo or PHS), a public high school located in Parker, Colorado. She then enrolled at Colorado State University Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and minors in both political science and Spanish. During her time at the university, she was in the university’s forensics team as well as worked at KTSC-TV (the campus-based Rocky Mountain PBS affiliate). She was awarded an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from CSU Pueblo in May 2023.

Afterward, she attended the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) and earned a master’s degree in public affairs reporting. Also, she worked for WCIA as a daily reporter covering the Illinois Capitol while at UIS.

Dana Perino served as the press secretary for Rep. Dan Schaefer (R-CO) for around 4 years.
