Brad Pitt was forced to bro-bond with Shia LaBeouf during a camping trip
This ^^ is the first promotional photo from Fury, the World War II film starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Scott Eastwood and more. They’re still filming in England, and I’m including some new low-quality set photos from yesterday at the bottom of the post.
I have to admit, I’m intrigued by this movie, mostly because Brad has never made a big WWII movie (I’m not counting Inglorious Basterds because… that was not a typical WWII movie). My late father was a huge WWII history buff and he loved WWII movies, especially if they starred people like Burt Lancaster, Steve McQueen, Gregory Peck or David Niven. Hollywood loves a good WWII movie, and we’re going through another period where Hollywood is making a lot of films set in that era. I tend to think George Clooney’s The Monuments Men will be a better (more historically accurate?) film than whatever this is. But we’ll see. I’m withholding judgment until I know more about Fury.
Meanwhile, I would love to know if Brad and Shia LaBeouf are getting along. Brad is rather famous for his even temperament, and even when there were all those shenanigans with World War Z, it wasn’t like there was anyone who wanted to come out and speak ill of Brad. But Shia might be the exception to the rule… or it could be that Brad’s inherent coolness and low-key dude-ness wins over every man he meets. Jonah Hill LOVES Brad. Cate Blanchett loves Brad. George Clooney loves Brad. Everybody loves Brad. LaBeouf probably does too. Hilariously, the director of Fury ordered Brad, Shia and the other cast members to go camping together to build their bro-bonding:
Coolest camping trip ever? Brad Pitt and his Fury costar Shia LaBeouf — along with three other cast members from the movie — recently braved the wilderness on a male-bonding activity in a desolate forest in Buckinghamshire, England, a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
The five actors, who are filming Fury in the English countryside, were “ordered to go camping together” from Sept. 16 to Sept. 19, the source says.
“They play soldiers in the same World War II troop, and the director [David Ayer] wanted to make sure they bonded,” the insider explains of Pitt, 49, LaBeouf, 27, and their cast mates. “So he dropped them in the wilderness — without their cellphones!”
Cut off from the rest of the world, the guys spent their days foraging for food. At night, they bundled up in an attempt to keep warm in 50-degree temps. “They must have gotten pretty cozy in the tents they were sharing,” the source quips.
Maybe someone brought some pot. And maybe they hot-boxed the tent and they had a really great time. I bet Shia volunteered to share a tent with Brad. I bet Shia wanted to make s’mores with his new friend.
